Northern Industrial Battery Services Ltd have partnered with Multi Source Power Technologies to offer a variety of options to meet customers energy storage needs. Typical applications that NiBS can support on a commercial level include:
- Renewables such as own consumption, generation smoothing and ramp rate control
- Hybrid deployment for grid stabilisation, island grid building, optimising or replacing diesel generators
- Grid and power quality for peak shaving, power control and day/night regulation
- Backup power for own consumption
How does it work?
Energy storage systems are equipped with lead acid or lithium batteries, which have been developed specifically for applications where high energy throughput and cycling is needed.
Battery management systems are used for optimised charging and control. This maximises the cycle life of the battery and ensures optimal performance of the system.
The ventilation system provides climate control options so that operating temperatures can be supported even in harsh environments.
Equipment such as uninterruptable power supplies, circuit breakers and communication infrastructure can be included in the electrical system, and all of this can be containerised for a complete turnkey solution.

What can Northern Industrial Battery Services offer?
Flex-ESS (250 or 500)
Northern Industrial Battery Services Ltd can supply the Flex-ESS energy storage system in both 250kVA and 500kVA options. These systems are modular and can be expanded to increase capacity and meet a variety of customer needs. The thermally insulated and ultra durable housing ensures ideal climatic conditions and low footprint provides flexible layout options. The unit contains 250 kVA or 500 kVA if power with battery modules configurable in 104 kWh steps (please note that the battery size must be greater than the inverter output as the battery is 1C rated).
The Flex-ESS (250 or 500) can be used for a variety of demands such as:
- Frequency regulation and response.
- Peak shaving
- EV charging
- Black start
Northern Industrial Battery Services Ltd can supply the Flex-ESS 1000 energy storage system. This energy storage system is modular and expandable and is a factory built and tested solution. The thermally insulated and durable housing provides ideal climatic conditions to ensure continued efficiency.
The unit contains 1000 kVA of power with storage of 1105kWh per housing.
The Flex-ESS 1000 can be used for a variety of demands such as:
- Generator hybridisation
- Load and peak shaving
- EV charging
Northern Industrial Battery Services Ltd can supply the Flex-ESS Micro energy storage system in both 88kVA and 50kVA options. These systems are modular and with an ultra-low footprint of 2m x 2m x 1.5m (HxWxD) they provide an option for customers with space considerations or who would like more flexible layout options.
The Flex-ESS Micro offers a DC coupled solar option. With on average 1 to 20hrs + storage.
The unit provides options for 88 kVA or 50kVA with internal energy expansion in 71.5kWh blocs up to 286 kWh. Additional expansion modules of up to 1040 kWh can be supplied to increase battery storage capacity.
The Flex-ESS Micro can be used for a variety of demands such as:
- Remote command power and operation.
- EV charging.
- Peak shaving.
